Week of March 13-17, 2023

 Announcements: A teacher has been hired for Ms. Love! He will begin March 20 - stay tuned for an introductory email from the school. This week... Humanities: Students will work on completing several assignments they have been working on over the past few weeks. ALL will be due on Thurs, March 16 . Assignments: Greek Myth, Athens: A Day in the Life, Winter/Summer Opinion French: This is the last week for students to build and label their French towns. Next week, there will be a gallery walk to see the other students' work and some listening/speaking activities.  Phys Ed & Wellness: Students will complete their Nutrition Projects and continue to play cooperative games in Phys Ed where the focus will be on sportsmanship.

Week of February 27-March 3, 2023

 Announcements: Telus Spark Field Trip - Tues, Feb. 28 Bring a cold, bagged lunch (no purchasing of food!) If missing form, bring ASAP On Thursday, March 2, Ms. Love will move the role of acting assistant principal. She will assist in the transition as a new teacher takes over.  This week... Humanities: In ELA, we will continue looking at plot diagram and story elements through Greek myths. Students will begin writing an original myth. For Social, students will start to look at the structure of the Athenian government.  Trading Cards: Due Mon, Feb. 27 French: Students will continue building their neighborhoods. Labeling for buildings and jobs will commence. Phys Ed & Wellness: Students will continue the basketball unit. In Health, they will continue working on the nutrition project that was started last week. The goal is to analyze a typical meal to see where small improvements could be made to make it healthier.

Week of February 20-24, 2023

Humanities: Students will continue to look at the people who lived in Ancient Greece by creating trading cards to represent each person, their level of power, and their education level. In ELA, we will continue to look at the story structure by analyzing Greek myths.  A Day in the Life Visual Journal - Due Wed, Feb. 21 (will accept until Friday) Athens Trading Cards - Due Fri, Feb. 24 French: Students will work on designing their neighbourhoods and properly labeling buildings. They will rewrite their ER verb quiz. ER Verb Quiz Rewrite - 62: Thurs, Feb. 23 | 65: Wed, Feb. 22 Phys Ed & Wellness: Students will continue with basketball and their nutrition project.

Humanities: Students will write their final newspaper article using the same template presented in the Provincial Achievement Tests. In Social, we will begin to look at the various people that existed in Ancient Athens. Grand Canyon Newspaper Article - Due Wed, Feb. 15 A Day in the Life Visual Journal - Due Wed, Feb. 22 French: Students will design and build their original neighbourhoods and begin to properly label the buildings with French vocabulary and articles.  ER Verb Retest - 62: Tues, Feb. 21 | 65: Wed, Feb.22 Phys Ed & Wellness: Students will begin nutrition projects where they evaluate a typical meal using the Canada Food Guide and consider basic changes to improve the nutrition of the meal. In PE, we will continue our basketball unit.

Humanities: Students will evaluate examples of newspaper articles written for old Provincial Achievement Tests (PAT). Finally, they will write an article using a PAT task and rubric. For social, we will begin our unit on Ancient Athens by looking at the geography, climate, and people of the area. French: Students will begin the unit on neighbourhoods and towns by practicing with places in town vocabulary and the verb "aller" (to go). 62 - ER Verb Quiz: Tues, Feb 7 Phys Ed & Wellness: Students will analyze typical meals they eat for nutrition. In PE, they will continue handball, fitness, and group games.
